  Lab Results  - Pre-Lemtrada and Post-Lemtrada Jan-Mar, 2020

Lemtrada can cause a variety of issues and secondary auto-immune diseases. Monthly blood and urine tests are done to try and spot things early.  Patients are also instructed to do self-checks and look out for things like lumps, red spots on our skin, changes in urine color, bruising, etc.  There are other things like fever and stomach issues that could point to an infection as well.  A CBC or Complete Blood Count is done to check for Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP, or low platelets); white blood cells for signs of infection and your Lymphocytes to see how your immune system is coming back.  My doctor also does a Lymphocyte Subset to see where your T cells and B cells are in comparison to each other.  He tries to make sure they come "on-line" together.  Liver issues like autoimmune hepatitis is possible; alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) are the common enzymes they check for.  Thyroid disease is a common side effect so Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is part of the protocol.  Kidney function is checked in both the urine test (protein levels) and blood, glomerular filtration rate (GFR)  (how well your kidneys are filtering out Creatinine).

Below are the more important levels in my monthly blood results.

A note: In September 2019, I had just recovered from a UTI so that's why my white blood cell/Lymphocyte count is high.
